Boxed Behavior
Year: 2021
Media: Quilt
Dimensions: 72" x 58"
This quilt uses boxes to represent technological designs that measure and predict human behavior. Multitudes of boxes accumulate, containing our lives.
I often think about the human impulse to predict, and how categorization creates its own structures. Nowadays, it is hard to differentiate what we choose and what chooses us. Is there a box capable of capturing our self-determination, or is that our only weapon against a surveillance state?
