The Thing Inside of the Thing

Year: 2021

Media: Quilt

Dimensions: 36” x 36”

This quilt looks at how data collection and flawless designs seamlessly mask surveillance and extraction as convenience and access. There are things inside of things that we use everyday that quantify, collect, and extract our moods, decisions, and needs.

It is hard to decipher what  we choose, and what chooses us. Is there a box capable of capturing our self-determination, or could its inability to be contained be our only weapon against surveillance capitalism?
